Plans for 26,500 new homes along The Thames reveal by London mayor.

London Mayor, Boris Johnson has published his grand vision for creating thousands of new and affordable homes along The River Thames.

The draft London Riverside Opportunity Area Planning (OAPF) sets out the planning, regeneration and design guidance that will lead to the creation of 26,500 new homes and up to 16,000 jobs across the boroughs of Barking and Dagenham and Havering, and a small part of Newham.

The mayor also highlights 38 Opportunity Areas across the capital that offers significant capacity for new housing, commercial and further development. The mayor believes that by establishing Opportunity Areas, and working closely with London Boroughs and partner agencies, would be the best way to deliver significant social and economic regeneration.

The published document, now open for public consultation, sets out the Mayor’s strategic priority and long-term vision over the next 20 years for evolving the area into sustainable and successful part of London.
